A decade ago, fewer than a quarter of Utah households were renting. Now, more than a third are. The number of renters is increasing at similar rates across Arizona, Idaho, Texas, and Oregon—and Nevada now ranks among the top 5 states for renters.
The data shows that most of the people who rent either live in apartment buildings, condos, or basements. These cozy spaces can be great because they mean less maintenance and their reduced size also means they cost less a month than a home mortgage. But they usually come with the downside of limited storage space.
At Towne Storage, we understand the need to maximize such space without compromising comfort or style, which is why we’re big on providing storage tips to help our customers better utilize the space they have.
One tip is to buy ottomans, couches, or coffee tables that come with hidden built-in storage space. We also recommend using tall bookcases to gain an extra shelf or two, maximizing bathroom and kitchen cabinet space with extra shelves or especially deep drawers, and utilizing functional under-bed storage containers.
Using wall-mounted hooks can free up front closet space otherwise used for jackets and coats—and using over-the-door shoe racks or adjustable baskets to make available more bedroom closet space is another favorite tip. Finally, a clever use of mirrors throughout the home creates the illusion of there being more space in an area than there actually is while also enhancing natural light.
After our customers have followed tips like these to maximize the space they have, they can safeguard whatever’s left at any of our conveniently located self-storage facilities.
Doing so helps them enjoy all the perks of living in a smaller space while also not having to part with any of their treasured belongings.
